In folio (296x202 mm). [108], 426, [2] pp. Numerous woodcut friezes, head and tail pieces; double column text framed within a single fillet. Full rigid parchment binding Sporadic worm holes but fresh and marginal specimen, well preserved. Giulio Ferretti (1487-1547), lawyer from Ravenna but of Apulian origins, should be counted among the sources of absolute worship in the panorama concerning the right of war (he was also a constant reference in Grozio himself), so much so as to become a consultant to Emperor Charles V. He also wrote consilia and treatises always dedicated to the theme of ius belli. In this monumental treatise, published posthumously by his son Eusperanzio, the author investigates the theme of war also from the point of view of military strategies, deepening the theological, political and clearly legal aspects. Rare posthumous first printed edition. See Iccu; Adams, I-F307; Cockle, Military bibliography, 545.
